Dave Smith of Peninsula Contemporary Bathrooms has just completed an amazing transformation of our two bathrooms, laundry and WC. After speaking to a number of his previous clients, my wife and I expected an exceptional standard of work and weren’t disappointed. Dave introduced us to Rebecca Cardamone of Ace Property Agency for assistance with selection of fixtures, design and drawings. This provided a solid basis for quoting project cost and duration. With regular consultation, Dave made sure throughout construction that we were happy with the way that the design features were coming together. With over 30 years’ experience, he made some really good suggestions for cost savings and to improve the final appearance and functionality of each room. Unlike some builders, Dave only works on one project at a time so was always on site from start to finish. He has a long-standing relationship with a number of independent, quality tradespeople who attended on relevant days to keep the schedule moving smoothly. Our part of the project was to purchase tiles, taps and other fixtures. We found Dave to have a very pleasant manner and be thoroughly reliable, honest and timely. Peninsula Contemporary Bathrooms’ Dave Smith demolished and rebuilt our bathroom, ensuite and powder room and we couldn’t be happier with the end result. Dave is a talented master builder who does the screed, waterproofing and tiling himself, so he knows the work is completed to his high standard, and uses an excellent team for all other trades. We also wanted new louvre windows installed in theses rooms and then decided to get a new roof. Dave, with his building expertise and contacts, recommended a roofing company and sorted out a few other building issues for us. Dave did a wonderful job on our complex, high end renovation. I am a tricky client, but our client builder relationship worked better than I could have hoped. No doubt this was because Dave has a very high attention to detail, takes great pride in his work and genuinely wants you to be happy with every little detail. He also has a good memory for the little things that come up in conversation – but could so easily be forgotten. Perhaps most importantly, Dave is fair, honest and a pleasure to have around. My wife and I highly recommend Dave Smith from Peninsula Contemporary Bathrooms. We engaged Dave at the start of December 2020 with an ambitious aim of having our unit bathroom completely gutted and renovated by Christmas. We specified a detailed project with large format tiles, lineal drain, underfloor heating, perimeter LED lighting, heated towel racks, LED vanity mirror, fabrication of a large shower nook with LED lighting etc etc. Without the benefit of working drawings to build from, he set out a schedule that had us in by the 24th of December and he kept to it. We asked Dave to deliver a very high standard of workmanship and he delivered above those high expectations. He is very communicative and engaged us at every stage to ensure that we understood the process and that we were happy with the decisions and actions taking place. His input on everything from tile selection to design ideas and ergonomics was spot on and thankfully we listened to him – as a result we have the luxury of a bathroom that is a joy to use. When our 20-year old bathroom wall collapsed, due to zero original waterproofing, the replacement search produced Dave Smith. What a find ! Not only Dave, Master builder, true artisan, but also a great ancillary connected trade team to do the strip-out, electrics and plumbing. Dave’s organisational skills superb, did everything to promised schedule with a daily staged plan. His “office” , setup in space on our back verandah, was kept organised with a daily cleanup, scrap removed and every detail carefully considered.The planning and execution without fault. His suggestion that local Tiles by Kate would be a good supply source proved correct – 10 minutes explaining our preferences produced a great solution for wall and floor. Even at the end – when there was a minor delay in glass supply for the track shower screen, Dave kept us accurately informed when it would be completed. Obvious that Dave, a resolutely focussed bathroom craftsmen, has spent years assembling a professional team of independent trades which meet his exacting standards.
